PRINCIPALS TO REGISTER STUDENTS ONLINE THROUGH POST PRIMARY SCHOOLS MANAGEMENT BOARD CHAIRMAN

Principals of secondary schools in Enugu state will no Longer be allowed to register students in WAEC/NECO online without passing through the Post Primary Schools Management Board, Enugu.

The Chairman of the Board, Princess SteLLa Ngwu gave the directive to principals in Enugu state recently.

Principals were also directed by the Chairman to submit to the Board, students attendance registers and other record books for scrutiny before they were alLowed to register students for any external examination.
The measure, according to Chief Mrs. Ngwu, was in to checkmate the registration of external students by principals.

“The Educator” Learnt that, last year many principals were involved in registration of externaL candidates during the WAEC/NECO examination.
Investigations further reveaLed that registered external candidates in different schools in the sate were made to pay between N25,000.00 to N35,000.00 to seat for onLy WAEC examination. They also paid the same amount during NECO examination.

Members of the monitoring team set up by the Board to monitor external examination Last year told the magazine that some principals in the urban and rural areas of the state were involved in the examination malpractices.

Principals who were found culpable in the act were decisively punished. Chief (Mrs.) Ngwu again told the principals that anybody found guilty in the same act this year would regret his/her actions.
She appealed to principals to turn a new leaf and desist from all manners of cheating so that “we can move the education industry in the state forward”.
